A Great Big Thank You
I am so excited about seeing the people of Heartland this Sunday. I can not tell you how much I love and appreciate you. With out all your help and support the Logansport campus would not be what it is today. I would venture to say that all the pastors of the Heartland have the same heartfelt feeling. We can never thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication to the ministry.
Again I would like you to know that we Love You this muuuuuuuuuuch. And the Heartland is what it is today because of you. Thank you so very, very much for everything.

What Are We Here For
It’s easy. We are here to spread the gospel of the good news to everyone who we come in contact with. In Acts 1:8. We find that Jesus sent His disciples to a area that they were very familiar with at first Jerusalem. Then He sent them to the neighboring area of Judea. But what happens next is what so exciting. Jesus sent His disciples to a people who they didn’t care for very much the Samaritans. Isn’t that just like Jesus to take you out of your comfort zone to fulfill your destiny. When you are outside your comfort zone you will have more of a tendency to re lie on the Holy Spirit to lead you instead of doing things your own way. Once you are able to minister to people you don’t have much in common with or someone who has hurt you the healing you need will come and then you will be ready for the next step of fulfilling the great commission. And that is to go to the uttermost ends of the earth with no prejudice of any kind in your heart just the love of Jesus. If you are thinking about going on the mission field someday please attend our Project A 1:8 mission banquet on the 23rd of Nov.. Don’t miss you chance to talk with people who have ministered here in the homeland and overseas with the good news of Jesus Christ. They are ordinary people just like you. You to can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Come And Experience Heartland
At one time one or another I have visited all five of the Heartland campuses. Several things stand out from these experiences.
· Welcome received – It was as great as any church I’ve ever been in
· Worship was exciting and sincere
· Preaching is bible based with application to everyday life
These experiences have been a blessing to my Christian life.

Keep Me Warm Please
Last Friday we had a combined youth group activity at the Howard’s house. It was a breezy chilly night with a great big bon fire. During the evening we had a cell phone scavenger hunt. This was so much fun that I have to tell you about it. What you do is have a list of things to look for (examples; road kill, animal in a pasture, picture of a Wal Mart greeter, license plate with a Z on it, and so on). Then as you are going around in your car looking for these things you stop when you find one and get out and take a picture on your cell phone for proof.
We had a great time getting to know the youth in our cars and building great relationship with them. While around the camp fire there was lots hot dogs being roasted and a whole lot of marsh mellows. We played some games around the camp fire and had some awesome conversation going on. This is one way of knowing if the youth is having a good time or not, just ask them if they are ready to go home and they say no they are definitely having a good time. They didn’t leave till after 11:00pm.
Dude don’t try to make it harder than it is trying to reach the youth. Just keep it simple and become a kid yourself while having a lot of fun with them. What they really want is some who will care for them and who will lend a listing ear to them while being there for them when they need someone.

A Genuine Move Of The Holy Spirit
My mother is 80 years old and she is truly a prayer warrior. While the elections have been going on she has been praying everyday, sometimes 3 to 10 times though out the day. The day of the election came and while she was watching the election she decided to turn the TV off because it wasn’t going the way she hoped and prayed for. Later that evening she turn it back on to find out that Obama had won. While she was watching in dismay a breeze entered into the her room and a warm heat started running through her body from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. While this was going on she experienced the joy of the Lord and his peace fill her room. While sitting in the presence of the Lord she felt His arms wrap around her as if to tell her everything was going to be alright and that He was going to take care of her.
Don’t think that when you pray and things don’t go the way you planned that our God doesn’t care. That is the furthest from the truth. You see it matters to our God what we pray and He is not one to leave you feeling helpless and out in the cold. So if you desire to experience a move of the Holy Spirit in your life just spend some quality time with Him because His desire is for you to experience the truth of the Gospel. And that is that Jesus is alive and well, and that He is hungering to spend time with His church on a daily bases.

The Day After
A great message from Chuck Colson that really captures my heart (and probably many of yours) after this historic election…

The Day After
Pray for Our President and Our Nation
November 5, 2008
Whether you voted for Barack Obama or John McCain, whether you’re recovering from your all-night celebration or drying the tears from your pillow,
today’s a good day to remember the words of the apostle Paul: “I urge, then,
first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made
for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live
peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
And the new President will surely need our prayers because he and his
administration face huge, serious challenges to the health of our nation and
to peace in the world-challenges that, in my opinion, neither he nor any
government on earth will have the power to overcome without divine aid.
How has America come to this point? Why is our economy on the brink of
disaster? Why is our culture so utterly depraved?
I can only think of what Alexandr Solzhenitsyn said about the catastrophic
consequences of the Russian revolution. “I recall,” he said, “hearing a
number of older people offer the following explanation for the great
disasters that had befallen Russia: Men have forgotten God; that’s why all
this has happened.”
Solzhenitsyn was right. Indeed, I can’t find any better explanation for why
we Americans find ourselves in the state we are in. We have forgotten God.
We have also forgotten that American democracy-indeed Western Civilization
itself-is the product of the Judeo-Christian understanding of God and
humanity. Without that revelation that man is created in the image of God,
our founders never would have recognized the unalienable rights to life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Indeed, as I and others like Rodney
Stark have argued, modern science and education, liberal democracy,
capitalism flourished in Western civilization precisely because of the
Judeo-Christian worldview.
The attacks on Christianity these days are only going to intensify in the
months ahead. But we must press on all the more to make a winsome witness.
Those who would banish Christianity from American life are risking the very
survival of American society.
Friends have asked me whether this economic crisis is God’s judgment upon
us. I don’t know.
As I’ve re-read the Old Testament prophets recently, I couldn’t help but
notice the recurring theme: The people of God turned away from Him and
worshipped false idols. The result was always disaster.
Is God responsible for credit markets collapsing around the world? No. We’re
responsible. Because instead of worshiping God, we’ve worshipped false idols
of the marketplace, credit card companies and cheap mortgages. We’ve put our
own appetites over our duties to God and neighbor.
So this is no time for Christians to go into the bunkers. No time to wail or
moan over our retirement plans. This is a time to repent, to pray more, to
give more. It’s a time for Christians to lead, encourage, and minister to a
faltering country in a faltering economy.
This is a time for the Church to get serious about Christian discipleship.
Enough cheap grace.
So pray for the new President and his administration. But most of all, my
brothers and sisters, this is a time to love our neighbors and to hunger for
God and His righteousness.
Exciting Week in Logansport
This was a really exciting week for our Logansport campus.
On Wednesday night, the church participated in a community, Halloween trick-or-treat at the mall. We brought our puppet stage to the front of the church (and many of our church members manned the puppets), Rovercomer mingled with the crowd, and several people distributed candy to over 850 costumed trick-or-treaters from the Logansport campus. The kids LOVED the puppets and Brenda’s full body, life-sized Spiderman costume. Many kids wanted to shake the puppets’ hands and get Spiderman’s autograph. Some of the comments that were overheard in the malll were statements like, “That chef (puppet) said I was the prettiest girl in town!” and, “When the chef saw my costume, he started screaming!” And Miss Dottie mentioned how much she enjoyed loving on kids of all ages! Many thanks to everyone who donated candy, helped with puppets, socialized with kids and parents, and supported us in this awesome outreach to the community. Pictures, coming soon!
On Friday night, Joe and Cathy Mundy hosted a harvest party for the church family at their farm. The Mundys worked really hard and did an amazing job planning a great party, which included a hay ride, pumpkin carvest, a write-your-own epitaph contest, and tons of food and games! THANK YOU to Joe and Cathy for making this an awesome night for your friends and family! The memories of hay fights, crazy epitaphs, and our candy scavenger hunt won’t soon be forgotten!
Finally, after church today, Pastor Jim baptized four people! It was a blessing to see this public commitment to serve Jesus!
Overall….. an awesome week!
